Trapped chests are like normal chests, they store items. A single chest block can store up to 27 stacks of item or blocks. It is able to hold from 0 to 1728 blocks/items (All stacked to 64). A large chest, which is created by placing to single chests next to each other. A large chest has 54 storage slots, and is able to hold form 0 to 3456 block/items (All stacked to 64). The top three rows in the interface correspond to the eastern or northern chest block and the bottom three to the southern or western chest block.
Colored chests are made from the type of planks, and there's even a dark matter chest, which would hold more items. But that chest in not fully implemented yet, there's not even a crafting for it.
But upon opening a trapped chest, it send out a redstone signal. This can be useful for traps. Also, there is no dark matter trapped chest.
Bug; Beta 1.9 - Beta 1.9.1: All chests are slightly glitched. They face the wrong way and are just a little too high in inventory slots.

Just like the normal chests, on Christmas eve and day, all of them change to the Christmas chest texture.
On MCE's birthday, the chests from the mod change texture too. The texture is similar to the Christmas one, but the decor of the Christmas trees are taken off, and a different patter lays there.
