Lava obsidian is similar to lava cobblestone. It gives off light the same as lava, and it's blast resistance is the same as normal obsidian. The texture is obsidian, with lava under it.
It is safe to walk on, and will not set player, or mobs on fire. It will not burn items if items are thrown on it. It will not cook or smelt items either. It will not set wood or other flammable blocks on fire. Right clicking this block with an empty bucket will give you a lava bucket, and the block will turn to normal obsidian.
Obtaining
You can hold a lava bucket and shift then right click on obsidian to get lava obsidian. You then can hold the empty bucket and right click on this block to get a lava bucket and this changes to normal obsidian. It does not place a lava source block down.
